What defines a mental health need?

People with mental health needs will experience alterations in fluctuation’s with emotions, thoughts, or behaviour. This can happen at any point in a person’s life and researchers are still working to understand why people need support with their mental health at different times in their lives. It is thought that several factors contribute, including genetic predispositions, early life experiences and external influences such as drug and alcohol abuse and trauma and stress.

We take a holistic approach

We work closely with community mental health teams and professionals to ensure we have the right specialist teams in place to support each person’s unique needs. When assessing a person’s mental health support needs we look at the whole picture, including their home environment. Our aim is to help individuals to feel supported enough to have the confidence and capability to remain in their homes as they progress along their journey towards independence and recovery.

In-house Positive Behavioural Support (PBS)

As a company, we fully embrace the PBS approach, which means understanding behaviour rather than reacting to behaviour. At Brighter Living, we are fortunate that we have an in-house PBSP (Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner) who can offer specialist positive behavioural support using evidence-based strategies. By understanding and addressing the reasons behind different behaviours, we can support people to overcome certain challenges, helping them to improve their quality of life.

Doing whatever it takes to bring you peace of mind
