Phil's story
Phil is a great communicator and thrives in an environment where he feels safe, surrounded by people he trusts so we ensure that any new staff members are introduced gradually.

Phil is a great communicator and thrives in an environment where he feels safe, surrounded by people he trusts. Therefore, we ensure that any new staff members are introduced gradually, allowing trust to grow and avoiding unnecessary disruption to Phil. Despite occasional challenging behaviours like hitting, kicking, and occasional biting, our dedicated care team is committed to ensuring both Phil and our staff remain safe.
Our holistic approach has shown positive results over the past 6 months, with a significant reduction in PRN administrations, physical interventions, and challenging behaviours. Should the team need to use physical restraint for self-protection, all staff are fully trained as part of mandatory level 1 NAPPI UK Ltd training. Open communication with Phil’s parents ensures we stay informed about any concerns or changes that might impact Phil’s routine or lifestyle, enabling us to proactively address them.
We celebrate Phil’s daily activities, encouraging his independence by supporting visits to local independent shops, engaging in communication with local businesses, and enjoying outings to places like the driving range and trampoline park—all made possible through his mobility car.
Phil also loves the freedom of local walks without driver support, providing him with a sense of independence that we actively encourage. Brighter Living Care is dedicated to championing the successes of our supported tenants, with Phil’s journey being a testament to our commitment to their well-being and fulfilment.
